Former Campbeltown police station set to go under the hammer at Shepherd Commercial Property Auction

The former Campbeltown police station is set to go under the hammer in a live-streamed commercial property auction on 30th October at 2:30pm with a guide price of £45,000.

Located in the heart of Campbeltown town centre, the principal settlement on the Kintyre Peninsula within the Argyll & Bute Council area, the former police station is suitable for residential conversion, subject to planning permission.

Campbeltown benefits from strong transport links with the A83 providing access to the north and central belt of Scotland. Campbeltown Ferry Terminal is 0.5 miles from the property, offering services to Tarbert and Adrossan, while Campbeltown Airport is also nearby, offering flights to and from Glasgow International Airport.

Campbeltown Grammar School is the town’s main secondary school and is situated less than a mile from the property. This is further complemented by two primary schools serving the surrounding area.

The former police station occupies a prominent pitch on Castlehill which provides access to Campbeltown town centre. The surrounding area consists of a blend between residential and commercial operators including Argyll Arms Hotel, Campbeltown Town Hall and The Royal Hotel.

The property spans ground and first floors and benefits from traditional stone construction, surmounted by a pitched and slated roof with an additional extension to the rear. Vehicular access can be granted via Castlehill as well as numerous pedestrian entrances located at different points around the premises.

The 7,360 sq ft property consists of office accommodation alongside four holding cells, dedicated W/C facilities and a kitchen prep area complemented by another row of cells and further office accommodation on the first floor.

It also benefits from a large car park which contains a garage previously used for the maintenance of police cars.

Calvin Molinari, surveyor at Shepherd, said: “Within proximity to public transport links and with suitability for residential conversion, subject to planning permission, we anticipate much interest in this auction lot.”

The online auction will be held on 30th October at 2:30pm and interested parties should register at https://www.shepherd.co.uk/auctions-remote-bidding/.
