Geographical expansion and introduction of VAT advisory service set to boost fee income from Wbg’s tax offering by 30%

Geographical expansion coupled with the introduction of a specialist VAT advisory service are set to deliver a 30% boost to fee income from leading independent specialist full-service accountancy firm Wbg’s tax offering.

Consistent growth across the firm’s tax service line of between 10 and 15% per annum over the last few years has seen the department expand its added value service offering and its team from one partner to three with Head of Tax Catherine McManus joined by Shehzad Ashaq, recently promoted to Corporate Tax Partner, and the recruitment of Keith Miller as Head of Indirect Tax.

“Thanks to the private equity investment by N4 Partners, the majority shareholder of Wbg, we have been able to expand into new markets through tapping into N4’s broader eco-system and secure significant growth for our tax offering geographically and through the addition of specialist expertise,” said McManus.

“The continued development of the tax team showcases our extended geographical reach with location markers now in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Manchester, and Dublin.

“As clients operate across regional, national, and international markets, this development and expansion is vital in providing seamless support to clients navigating complex commercial regimes.”

And McManus highlighted Miller’s extensive experience and specific expertise around land and property transactions, parking services, online transactions, financial services (including M&A VAT) and cross border transactions, as setting a new benchmark for the firm in this area.

“Keith’s experience in navigating complex VAT and indirect tax issues, alongside his strategic insight, further strengthens our capabilities and enhances the value we deliver to clients,” she said.

“And the promotion of Shehzad offers clients further access to combined corporate and personal tax planning with his expertise in advising entrepreneurs and the SME market.”

Together, Wbg’s three established tax partners and their expanded tax teams provide clients with support across highly specialist tax services

“This combination of high-level expertise and targeted growth of our tax offering shows the widened commitment to delivering practical, commercial support tailored to the needs of businesses, whether they be owner operated, large corporates or group entities, and private individuals,” said McManus.

“Further investment in specialist services is planned to support this already solid foundation to enable Wbg to continue to support ambitious clients in competitive markets, wherever they are located, so that businesses and individuals can flourish and focus on their own growth and development plans.”
