Shepherd brings to market the last retail unit of historic Dundee tailor Cooper & McKenzie for sale

Shepherd Chartered Surveyors is bringing to market the last remaining retail unit of historic Dundee tailor Cooper & McKenzie for sale.

A fixture of the city centre for 145 years, Cooper & McKenzie ceased trading in 2019. The unit is prominently located on the west side of Crichton Street between its junctions with High Street and Whitehall Crescent within Dundee city centre.

Grant Mitchell, formerly of Cooper & McKenzie, said: “We purchased this unit in the early 70’s and opened Erik Larson which facilitated our introduction of interesting Scandinavian styled menswear into Tayside. This operation ran until the opening of our extended and remodelled store in Reform Street in 1994.”

The 1144 sq ft office/retail unit is planned over ground and basement floors forming part of a mid-terraced Category ‘C’ listed four storey, attic and basement building with staff kitchen, WC and storage. Surrounding occupiers are a mix of businesses with residential occupiers on the upper floors.

Scott Robertson at Shepherd in Dundee, said: “The unit was part of the Cooper & McKenzie business in years gone by and now the last unit to be offered for sale.

“It is situated within a recognised and busy commercial area within the centre of the city and near the ongoing waterfront development. The location provides an opportunity to benefit from the ongoing improvements to this part of Dundee.”

Offers over £85,000 are invited. Interested parties should contact the sole sales agent on tel 01382 200454.
